๐ถ Exactly 4 years ago today, my piece Rainy Mondays was released along with this video clip. This release was actually the first official one of my trio project, and I felt so much excitement, anticipation, and curiosity for how the audience would receive it.
My heart was filled with much joy and light by everyone's reactions ๐ฅฐ
For me, this piece is about integration between one of my most profound classical music inspirations โ the polyphony of J. S. Bach โ and what jazz is to me: freedom (and the joy of uneven meters, of course).
I explored this even more in-depth on the Serenity Island album when I layered six tracks to create the polyphonic piano solo. In this first release, you can see my improvisation of this solo as a simple polyphonic section in a 4/4 meter integrated between the 7/8 sections, supported by the beautiful groove and tremendous delicacy of Mr. Gal Petel on the drums.
On the bass is the great Gilad Abro, and I still remember how happy I felt to experience this recording session with his counterpoint in my headphones.
